I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the businesses and people in Moses Lake who contributed so generously to the Merle Clemmo Cancer Fundraiser last September.

Merle passed away in December of 2009 after a brief battle with cancer, but he is still remembered today by all the friends he made during his life.

After graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1959, he attended Central Washington University and later served in the Army Signal Corps in France.

An electrician by trade and an avid outdoors man, he worked throughout the basin area, making friends wherever he was and whatever he was doing. Everybody liked Merle, and you never heard him say a bad word about anyone.

Old friends Steve Tolley, Dale Walker and I put together a golf fund-raiser in Merle's name in September, and along with numerous business donations, raised $4,420. All was donated to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation for local use.

Once again, a big "thank you" Moses Lake for remembering a special husband, father, employee and friend.
