Jensen burns nets but Eagles hang on for win

Despite the 44-point effort of junior guard Kayleb Jensen, the Columbia Basin Secondary School Phoenix fell 69-60 at Soap Lake on Tuesday night.
The Phoenix (0-6) played almost the entire second half with four players, having gone to Soap Lake with a five player roster.
"The kids just battled and even got it down to three," Phoenix head coach Rolland Hansen said. "They just were able to hit their free throws and we missed some of ours."
Jensen's torrid start to the season continued but the host Eagles were able to counter the Phoenix guard's performance with a 27-point game from Jason Korneychuk and David Coreas' 19 points and David Sanchez's 13 points.
The Phoenix led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter and the game was tied at 27-27 at halftime before the Eagles (2-4) pulled away despite Jensen's superlative performance.
"Kayleb had an awesome offensive night," Hansen said. "His teammates did a nice job to get him in a position to score. They put a box-and-one and a triangle-and-two against us and he could still score. He had a great night."
