GTA facility expected to be finished in March
MOSES LAKE - Work on the Grant Transit Authority maintenance and operations facility is expected to be finished in March.
The authority broke ground on the new facility in June after receiving $3.6 million in federal stimulus money and additional money in federal earmarks and reserves. The building will include covered bus storage, a maintenance facility and administration office.
Grant Transit Authority Manager Greg Wright anticipates the administration will move into its new building by March 1. Wright said in a past interview that the authority will maintain a presence in its current location in Ephrata.
"We've had a few delays on materials," he said."We had a very difficult time finding steel roofing that was made in America. With the (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) funding everything has to be made in America in order to be within the grant guidelines so there's been some things that have been difficult to get."
Wright said the move allows the administration to have better oversight of the complete operation.
At the moment buses are maintained and stored in Moses Lake, while the administration is located in Ephrata.
