Grandview 81, OTHELLO  58

OTHELLO - Grandview scored 29 points in the first quarter and would roll to an 81-58 win at Othello in Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) play on Saturday night.

The host Huskies (2-3, 1-3) were within range of their guests, trailing 43-30 at halftime, but a 20-9 third quarter by Grandview put the game out of reach.

Drew Scott led Othello with 22 points while DJ Cantu added 11 points.

Prosser 62, EPHRATA 47

EPHRATA - The host Ephrata Tigers hung tough with Prosser before falling 62-47 in CWAC action Friday night.

Ephrata (0-6, 0-4) was led by the 10 point efforts of both Tanner Williams and Brad Christensen.

QUINCY 55, Toppenish 45

QUINCY - Behind a tough defensive first quarter and a superlative final eight minutes, the Quincy Jackrabbits held on for their first CWAC win Friday night.

Quincy (3-3, 1-3) broke out to a 12-2 first quarter lead against Toppenish before wrapping up an eventual 55-45 win.

The Jacks were led by Marion Martinez's 19 points and they put the game away with a 24-point third quarter.

ACH 62, Okanogan 48

OKANOGAN - Behind a strong defensive effort and a lot of hard work the Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors remained unbeaten with a 62-48 win 1A Okanogan Friday night.

The Class 1B Warriors (5-0) broke open a 24-24 game at halftime with a 21-14 third quarter to stay unblemished.

"I was worried we couldn't win because I was concerned we couldn't defend the post," ACH head coach Scott Isaak said. "We did a very nice job with our defense racheted up and we got after their guards."

Derek Isaak scored 25 points for ACH and Brandon Boutain pumped in 18 points while Thunder Wellhausen recorded 12 points for the Warriors who, according to their coach, have some similarities with another Columbia Basin foe.

"We are starting to scratch and crawl and have a little Moses Lake Christian fight in us and that's a compliment," Scott Isaak said. "We did put on a lot of fullcourt press and trapping press to try to stretch it into a full court game. The kids really want to work."
