EPHRATA - It was time to see where the Ephrata Tigers stood against one of the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) heavyweights.
Showing signs of fight in some weight classes the Tigers battled against the Selah Vikings but in the end the visitors just had more weapons and depth as they recorded a 54-22 win.
Tyler Childs (119-pounds) earned a second-round pin win for Ephrata over Selah's Kyle Demmerit and Curtis Treiber (189-pounds) pinned Joe Rocha in the second-rounds as well.
Deion Ducksworth took a 9-0 decision at 215-pounds over Pedro Recondo.
Ephrata (2-2, 1-2) also earned a forfeit win at 130-pounds but gave up forfeits back to Selah in four weight classes to gain an 18-point advantage from matches that never wrestled.
On the mat, Selah earned 24 of their points via fall.
"We lost to a better team and our focus now will be to respond to a tough night," Ephrata head coach PJ Anderson said. "We have a long weekend ahead of the boys with the East Valley dual tonight and the Sundome tournament on Saturday. The coaching staff has seen great things from this group of boys. I'm confident they will not shut down after this loss. They will stay focussed and close the gap over the Christmas break."
