Key road wins for Wilson Creek
WILSON CREEK BOYS 61, Cascade Christian 5
WENATCHEE - It may be premature but not unrealistic to say that the Wilson Creek Devils basketball team should be considered a top threat for the North Central Washington 1B league title this season.
After their 61-54 win over hosts Cascade Christian - a team that lost by nine at Moses Lake Christian Academy the previous night - Wilson Creek are 4-1 overall and stand 2-0 in league play, with two victories on the opposition's home floor to boot.
"Tonight it was a big rebounding win for us and a big road win for us," Wilson Creek head coach Keith Jensen said.
It was also a big night for Austin Reyes.
Reyes finished the evening with 26 points and 12 rebounds and received plenty of support from Jacob Treat who scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Derek Fredere who ended his night with 20 rebounds to go along with nine points.
The win was Wilson Creek's third straight since a loss to Wilbur-Creston.
WILSON CREEK GIRLS 35, Cascade Christian 29
After starting the season with three straight wins, the Wilson Creek Lady Devils have found the perfect time to start churning out wins.
In North Central Washington 1B league play.
Following a tense overtime win at Columbia Basin Secondary School on Tuesday, the Lady Devils completed a two-game sweep of road games this week with a pivotal 35-29 win at Cascade Christian the next night.
With the victory, Wilson Creek (2-3, 2-0) has jumped ahead in the league standings.
"We are on a roll," Wilson Creek head coach Charlie Pierce said. "That was high-game point-wise so far so we are headed in the right direction. They're executing their offenses better that's for sure."
Wilson Creek led 8-5 after the first quarter and gradually built their lead over the course of the contest.
Holly Wilson led the squad with 17 points while Tori Diamond contributed with seven points for the Lady Devils.
