Chiefs boys sweep triangular against Yakima schools

"We competed strong from the start through the finish of this meet," Moses Lake head coach Tony St. Onge said. "This is a characteristic a team needs to become competitive as the season progresses. From here on out each competition will get tougher and we will need to really concentrate on conditioning to stay with the teams we will be facing."
Chiefs Evan McFarland, Kaelan Connacher, and Daniel Noteboom were all were double winners on the evening.
Moses Lake (3-0) recorded 21 wins and numerous top two finishes.
The Chiefs 200-yard medley relay team of Connacher, Brandon Emerson, Parker Merkley and McFarland rolled two a double win over both Yakima schools.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Noteboom (2:08.25) and Jacob Price (2:19.18), finished 1-2 against Ike and Davis.
Merkley sweep the competition in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:28.72, while Cody Wilson took second against Davis (2:41.14) in the same event.
McFarland cruised to a time of 24.47 to beat all opposition and Skyler Galloway took second against Eisenhower with a 25.47.
Diver Braxton Ford's score of 193 was easily good enough to walk away with a double win while teammate, Miles Hanson, scored a 151.70 to take second against Eisenhower.
Merkley took first against Eisenhower and second against Davis with a time of 1:04.95 in the 100-yard butterfly and Connacher took a double win in the 100-yard freestyle with a finishing mark of 54.58.
Damian Cacchiotti ended up second behind Connacher and ahead of Eisenhower with a time of 57.95.
Sweeping first and second for the Chiefs in the 500-yard freestyle were Daniel Noteboom (6:03.40) and Ian Isherwood (6:36.40) respectively.
Taking care of business was the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Connacher, Cacchiotti, Noteboom, and McFarland, who beat both teams with a time of 1:42.72.
Connacher took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.90) against both guests, while Nick Phillips finished second (1:12.62) against Davis.
In the night's last individual event, McFarland ended up first in the 100-yard breaststroke against both teams with a time of 1:07.81 and Brandon Emerson took second for the Chiefs against Eisenhower with a 1:14.40 finish.
Finally, the 400-yard freestyle relay foursome of Merkley, Cacchiotti, Nick Reed, and Notebook took first over Eisenhower and second against Davis with a time of 3:59.05.
"We had a few new swimmers step up and score for the Chiefs tonight," St. Onge said. "Brian Bateman, Will Monlux and Troy Boorman all swam varsity for the first time and scored."
