RICHLAND - It was definitely not the way the Moses Lake Chiefs wrestling team thought they should continue their Big 9 campaign this season.

A trip to Richland yesterday saw Moses Lake fall 41-31 to the host Bombers as the team lost its first league dual of the year after thumping rivals Wenatchee last week.

"Our team is dealing with some adversity and we obviously need to deal with it better than we are right now," Moses Lake head coach Jamie Wise said. "We are dealing with some weight issues and injuries and we will have to work through them."

Moses Lake did get some strong performances despite the loss.

Four Chiefs recorded pin victories, including Nico Moreno at 152 pounds and Kabe Fluaitt at 285 pounds.

Derek Fredericksen scored a pin win at 189 pounds and Herson Rodriguez did the same at 145 pounds.

Hector Zavalos scored a decisive 13-5 win at 160 pounds while Omar Suarez took a 6-4 decision at 130 pounds.

Richland found a way to pull away with five pin wins of their own and one key technical fall win to pull out the victory in a match that had been rescheduled from Dec. 4 during the recent winter storms that blew through the Columbia Basin.
