SOAP LAKE — With the summer heat beginning to rid itself from the Columbia Basin and the smell of fresh cut grass permeates the senses, many begin to look forward to the start of a new football season.

SOAP LAKE - With the summer heat beginning to rid itself from the Columbia Basin and the smell of fresh cut grass permeates the senses, many begin to look forward to the start of a new football season.

This weekend is the kickoff to the new campaign for most schools across the state. However, one of them won't be the Soap Lake Eagles.

According to head coach Joe Worsham, the Eagles' season and home opener against Entiat, scheduled for 7 p.m. has been postponed due to both teams being unable to field enough players to begin the encounter.

A makeup date has not been announced and the schools could still cancel the contest, Worsham said.
