Patricia (Perkins) Wilson

Patti fought a courageous 2 year battle with brain cancer, and went to be with her Lord and Family on August 25, 2010.

Patti was born on July 31, 1946 at Coulee Dam to Charles A. & Jean Perkins.

She was raised in the Grand Coulee area and was a 12 year vet of Grand Coulee schools. She graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1964. Later in life, Pat graduated from Big Bend Community College, and then put to work her degree in child & family education.

Patti married Rick Munson in 1965. They lived in many towns around Washington following Rick’s road construction work. Two children were born from this marriage: Jeanne’ Marie and Kevin Michael Munson.

She married Wayne Wilson in 1978, and they made their home in Coulee Dam; they also enjoyed living 2 years in Panama for Wayne’s work. From there, the family was joined by a new family member, Cecilio Wilson.

Patti worked at many jobs in the Coulee area, including the Wildlife, the Green Hut, The Melody, Safeway, Seafirst Bank, Coulee Dam Credit Union and Nespelem Elementary. She taught at the Hutterite School in Warden, and currently lived in Moses Lake and was employed by the State of Washington, DSHS in Child Services. She was recently recognized for Outstanding Public Service and as the Outstanding Employee for Washington Region 1 of the Department of Social & Health Services. She loved her job and all the people she worked with.

Patti also enjoyed many activities outside of work, and in the Coulee area had been a Worthy Matron of Rebekah, a Girl Scout Leader, and a Raider volleyball coach. She was a secretary at the Church of the Nazarene, a food bank volunteer, a member of the Eagles and a supporter of the Raider Booster Club. Patti was an avid sports fan and loved following the Zags. She enjoyed foster children and exchange students living in her home.

Pat was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her stepfather James A. Truax, her brother Charles A. (Butch) Perkins, Jr., and her sister Carolyn Perkins Joy.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne’ (Thad), of Leavenworth and Kevin (Jodi) of Spokane, Grandchildren Paul, Tye, Madelyn, Zachary and Luke, and her Brother Jim Truax (Kris) of Lacey, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Church of the Nazarene, 45925 State Route 174 N., Grand Coulee, WA. Inurnment will take place at Spring Canyon Cemetery in Grand Coulee, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House of Spokane.
