CRESCENT BAR
Reader disagrees with eviction
Why are the five Grant County PUD commissioners evicting the homeowners at Crescent Bar Island, who are the ones that originally paid thousands of dollars for their leased property, and who pay thousands of dollars yearly for the maintenance and operation of the sewer system and water system costs on the island? Plus, the homeowners that are golfers pay 65 to 70 percent of the costs to maintain the public golf course through their yearly golfing fees. And who have offered the PUD a minimum of $40 million, that's right, $40 million, for a 40 year extension on their present lease, when the PUD's budget is running a lot of red ink these days and these commissioners are going to raise your utility rates. Think about what the PUD did when they purchased Getties Cove. They closed this recreational sport by chaining it off. Can you trust that what happened to Getties Cove won't happen to Crescent Bar Island? These are the same commissioners that in a June 2008 meeting with 50 Crescent Bar homeowners, committed to a win-win outcome for them. That commitment wasn't carried through either. The Crescent Bar homeowners offered the PUD their own plans to open up the island for public recreation and a way to pay for it without raising the costs to you, the ratepayer. It is felt down here that there are hidden agendas.
