Hector Olivas, 75, Moses Lake, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010 in Seattle, WA. after a short battle with cancer.

Hector Olivas was born to Jesus and Emilia Olivas on April 27, 1935 in Nonoava, Chihuahua. Hector first came to the United States via the Bracero Program during the Korean War. A few years later he moved to the Columbia Basin to continue farming and raise a family with his wife Celia. He loved working in his garden and garage and was an active member of the Spanish-language Seventh-Day Adventist church in Othello, WA. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, fellow workers, and church family.

He is survived by his daughters Yolanda Castillo, Gracie Lauffer, Susie Chavez, Cecilia Ramos, Jacqui Swartz, and Joanna Moore; son Ubaldo Olivas; grandsons Marcus and Matthew Castillo, Isaiah Ramos, Manolo Chavez; and granddaughters Denisse Ramos, Alyssa and Olivia Lauffer, Amalia Olivas and Elena Chavez; sister Elva (Olivas) Prieto; brothers Rojelio and Eleasar Olivas.

He is preceded in death by his wife Celia and son David Olivas.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 21, at 1 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist church, 736 East Elm Street, Othello. Burial immediately following at Pioneer Memorial Gardens.
