QUINCY - The Quincy Police Department is looking for a man wanted in connection to a Wednesday night shooting.
Marcos A. Avalos, 20, Quincy, is sought for assault in the first degree and a series of unrelated warrants.
Police arrived on Fifth Avenue and G Street after gunshots were reported in the area.
"The investigation revealed that a vehicle occupied by two males were shot at," stated Detective Paul Snyder.
The shooting was reportedly a result of two gang members showing gang signals at subjects believed to be associated with a rival gang, he explained. The subjects were in a vehicle at the time.
As the passenger of the vehicle, Adelelmo Beltran, 18, exited, the driver, Avalos, allegedly fired two rounds from a handgun at the two gang members, Snyder stated.
The bullets struck a vehicle. There were no injuries.
"Witnesses said Avalos fled the scene on foot, while the vehicle also left the area," he stated.
A .380 caliber casing was located at the scene by police.
Police secured a search warrant for Avalos' residence on H Street. Inside, police found a sawed-off shotgun and shotgun shells.
Beltran was arrested for a warrant on unrelated charges.
"The Quincy Police Department needs your help in combating crime in our city," Snyder stated. "We are asking you to be a good witness and give us a call when you see something suspicious."
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the police department at 509-787-4718.
