BEVERLY - Donald A. Ulrey, 44, Kent, was killed Saturday when he crashed his four-wheeler in the Beverly Sand Dunes.

"The victim was found on his back at the bottom of an approximately 15-foot dune," the Grant County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday. "It appears the victim was not familiar with the Beverly Sand Dunes and when he went over the big dune, he attempted to let his quad go."

The quad struck the bottom of the dune, front-first.

"The victim landed on the back of the quad," the sheriff's office reported. "The rear bumper went through the victim's upper chest, killing him immediately."

Two witnesses found the man dead and attempted CPR, until realizing the severity of the injury.

"The quad came to rest about six feet from the victim to the east," the sheriff's office reported. "The quad only had front bumper damage."

The sheriff's office advised alcohol is a factor in the crash.

The man arrived at the sand dunes alone.
