Trapshooting teams fare well at FFA state meet
MOSES LAKE — During the weekend of April 16-17 the Moses Lake FFA Trapshooting Team participated at the highest level for the sport in the state.
Three squads representing the team took part in the FFA State Trapshooting Invitational in Wenatchee and all of them placed in the top half of the 43 that attended the event.
The shooters were required to shoot at100 targets and team scores were determined by adding the three top scorers from each squad.
Team 1 placed ninth with a score of 259, with a potential max being 300. The team consisted of Steven Keith, Billy Shestock, Cody Mertez, and Curtis Elledge.
Finished 14th was Team 2 which finished with a 247 behind the performances of Sam Lutskas, Justin Huff, Dustin Caldwell, Josh Black, and Dakota Hall.
Finally, Team 3 wrapped up a 21st place performance with a 231 score as Derek Kernan, Allie Nicholas, Nick Haight, and Alex Nicholas gave it a go.
Annie Oakley and Dustin Caldwell took second in the Buddy Shoot while Allie Nicholas took fourth in the Ladies Class competition.
