MOSES LAKE — The upcoming Grant County Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is an uplifting time for local mayors, says an event organizer.

“I was told that by some of the mayors, that the things that were so much of a challenge in their workday melted away,” said Joann Hosszu, of the Moses Lake Kiwanis Club, the event’s sponsor.

The breakfast is open to the public and starts at 7 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, at Big Bend Community College’s ATEC Center, located at 7662 Chanute St. NE, Moses Lake.

The breakfast gives support to community leaders, “from the top down,” she said.

“We may disagree with leadership, but they are who we elect and who are holding office,” Hosszu commented.

She enjoys the breakfast.

“It is quite a gratification of all faiths. It’s like everyone coming together to do one prayer together, to pray for our leaders to make the right decisions and that people do understand,” she comments.

“No matter what our political views are, God’s in charge,” she added.

This year’s guest speaker is Wayne E. Williams, president and CEO of Telect, Inc., a Liberty Lake-based, global telecom product manufacturer.

He speaks about how his business emerged after a decline and industry crash.

Incoming Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Governor Frank Morehouse and Kiwanis Division 58 Lt. Gov. Tom Heath, of Moses Lake, are scheduled to attend the event.

Event participants are P.J. De Benedetti, of Canfield Solutions, Bill Ecret, Moses Lake’s deputy mayor, Bob Schrom, a deacon with Our Lady of Fatima Church, the Moses Lake Police Department Honor Guard, Joseph Gavinski, Moses Lake’s city manager, Joanne Peters, Harriet West, Grant County Commissioner Carolann Schwartz, Quincy Mayor Jim Hemberry, Moses Lake School District Superintendent Michelle Price, Warden Mayor Roldan Capetillo, Sen. Janea Holmquist, R-Moses Lake, and the Rev. Steve Cox, of Grace Lutheran Church.
