EPHRATA — A Moses Lake man is serving roughly 10 years in prison for his part in a 2009 home invasion.

Prosecutors recommended consecutive sentences for Willie J. Collado, 28, after the man pleaded guilty to robbery in the second degree — accomplice liability and bail jumping.

Grant County Superior Court Judge Evan Sperline sentenced Collado to nine years and eight months in prison. The man has nine prior convictions dating back to 1997 including theft, robbery and attempted robbery.

The prosecutors agreed not to press charges against Collado in a Moses Lake and a Quincy case as part of the plea agreement, according to court records. Prosecutor Angus Lee did not comment on the details of the cases.

Collado, along with an alleged accomplice, forced his way into a Peninsula Drive residence after waking up a male resident. Collado grabbed the man by the throat, telling him he had a gun and demanding to know where the laptop and money were, according to a Moses Lake police report.

The second man, Gabriel M. Vasquez, 18, Moses Lake, allegedly searched the apartment while Collado restrained the victim. A female resident was brought out from the bedroom into the living room. When she started heading for the front door, Collado and Vasquez allegedly grabbed her purse and escaped.

Vasquez allegedly admitted to committing the crime, when he was interviewed by police later.

He still faces charges of robbery in the second degree and burglary in the first degree.
