Verna Helen Futter Kleweno
Verna was surrounded by her family and pastor when she left her home at Coventry House to join her heavenly family on Saturday, April 24th.
Verna was born June 20, 1915, on the family farm near Garfield, Washington to William and Josephine Futter. She joined three older brothers Glenn, Lloyd and Cecil and a younger sister Dora, who all preceded her in death. Verna graduated from Clarkston, Washington High School in 1933. She was employed by JCPenny as a bookkeeper prior to her marriage to Ernest Kleweno, October 4, 1941 in Lewiston, Idaho. She has three children Charlotte DuBois, Othello, Washington, and her identical twin boys Douglas Kleweno and Beverly of Athens, Georgia and David Kleweno, and Pamela of Lansing, Michigan, six grandchildren and four great-grand children.
Verna and Ernest ranched and farmed all their married life. In 1965 they established High Hill Angus Ranch at Soap Lake, Washington, and were known for their quality Angus cattle. She was an active member of the Grant County Cattlemen Association. In 1998, Verna and her husband were named Washington Cattlemen of the Year. She was a member of the Adrian Grange at Soap Lake, Washington and the Soap Lake Community Church. In 1999, Verna and her husband moved to Othello to be near their daughter where they attended the Othello Nazarene Church at 905 East Ash, Othello, WA. In September, she joined the Coventry House family due to failing health.
Verna’s family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice and Coventry House for making her comfortable during her final months.
