Third-set defeats down Chiefs
SPOKANE — The Moses Lake boys tennis team fell 5-2 at Mead on Saturday in a non-league encounter.
Moses Lake’s wins came at No. 3 and No. 4 singles where Tyler Knapp (6-1, 5-7, 6-0) and Mikael Mulgeta (6-4, 6-3) came out victorious.
The Chiefs dropped two three-set matches at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles which ultimately turned the match over to the hosts.
“It was a bit of a flashback from Thursday’s loss to Davis where we could not finish the matches out we needed to get the victory,” Moses Lake coach Jon Wrigley said. “We were serving at 5-4 and 4-3 in two key three set matches and played tight again. Tennis can be such a head game, we are a bit green and match experience will be the best way to get trough the struggles of this week.”
