Barber Shop

| April 22, 2010 9:00 PM

It has recently come to my attention that people out there do not understand the etiquette of a barber shop.

If you have been going to a shop for quite a while, and have established a relationship with one particular person in the shop, that relationship is counted on for the livelihood of that person. It is inconsiderate of the customer to arbitrarily go to the other barber in the shop and another barber to take others’ clients for their own.

We all must remember that most barbers are self-employed and count on their clientele that they have worked hard to gain their trust thus assuming loyalty. When a client comes into a shop that they have been frequenting for quite some time, going to the same barber each time, and then comes in and sits in another’s chair it feels like betrayal, not to mention that the original person’s loss of income.

In these hard economic times it is very important to all self-employed people to retain their clientele. Our lives literally depend on the clients that we have worked so hard gain. Loosing just one client makes a huge difference in our ability to pay our bills.
