John W. Smith

John W. Smith, 67, Moses Lake resident died in his home April 12, 2010 from complications of diabetes. John was born May 12, 1942 in Bonners Ferry, ID to Woodrow and Alline (Walters) Smith.

John loved his dog Bandit, Nascar racing, his favorite car was #14 Tony Stewart, country music, motorcycles and he talked often of the fun times creek fishing with Mom, Dad and Jearl in North Idaho. His passion was long haul truck driving, the job he loved. After serving faithfully in the U.S. Navy, he later worked as a machinist and truck driver. He will be fondly remembered for being young hearted and a great friend. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and N.A. group.

John is survived by his brothers Joe (Sharon) Smith, Tilden (Peg) Smith of Moses Lake, son Gerald (Samantha) Smith and grandson Justin, many special friends especially Butch Beber.

John was preceded in death by his parents, nephew David Smith and first wife Stella.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Moses Lake Stake Center, 1515 S. Division St., Moses Lake, with Bishop Preston Wilks officiating.
