Gordon Wendell Hawley

Gordon Wendell Hawley was called home on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.

He began his life in Sweetwater, Idaho, on March 27, 1923, the eldest son of Fred and Ada (Moore) Hawley. He grew up with his two brothers, Fred Jr. and Wayne both of whom preceded him in death. Gordon met, fell in love with and married Opal Esther Haistings in 1942. They moved to Northern Idaho, where they developed 60 acres of farmland from 400 acres of timberland. Their four sons were born and raised on this property. Besides farming Gordon worked in Sawmills in Harrison and St. Maries Idaho, and custom haro bedding for 10 years in 1962 they returned to Washington settling in Othello. Opal preceded Gordon in death in 1999. Gordon will be missed by his sons and their families, Vern and Larry (Melinda) both of Othello, Bud (Judy) of Lake Cle Elm, and Ron (Claudia) of Grapevine, WA, his grandchildren, Jenny, Jill, Robin, Rae, Renee, John, Jamie, Deana, René, Renate, Mike and Chrissy, over 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Coventry House Assisted Living and Avalon Health Care Center for their thoughtful and kind care. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held on Wednesday April 21, at 11:00 AM at Stevens Funeral Chapel.
