Grant County property taxes due April 30

EPHRATA — The first half of Grant County property taxes are due by April 30.

People can either pay by mail or go to the Treasurer’s Office on the second floor of the Grant County Courthouse.

“For those people who choose to wait to the last second, it’s recommended they go to the post office to make sure it’s postmarked,” Grant County Treasurer Darryl Pheasant said.

People making their payments by mail need to include the coupon on the bottom left corner of their statements with their payment. For people with more than one statement, they can use a single check for the payment, according to the treasurer’s office.

County property owners are expected to pay about $45 million in taxes for the period, Pheasant said, adding he is hoping the $4 million in delinquent taxes will also be paid. About 5.7 percent of the taxes were paid by the end of March.

“We’ve been getting a lot of payments coming in,” he said.

If the minimum payment isn’t made by the end of the month, a 1 percent interest charge is added.

“We’ll be sending a delinquent statement in May to hopefully avoid the 3 percent penalty on June 1,” Pheasant said. “They still have the opportunity to pay the first half plus interest by May.”
