Tea Party

| April 15, 2010 9:00 PM

Reader seeks support

In our Bill of Rights, in Article I – the first Amendment to our Constitution, we are given the right to “peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

That is the purpose of the Tea Party.

For far too long, the American people have contacted their legislators and political leaders about their concerns over the direction of our government, but this was usually done as an individual, the “one” who can and does make a difference.

Today, though, a particular party’s leaders tell us that only the dissenters contact them, that the remaining citizens who haven’t contacted them support their actions – a manipulative tool to justify partisan actions, to be sure. Thus, the “one” often does not have the effect on his government originally granted him by the Founders.

So, on Thursday, we stand together – “ones” united – to show our leaders that we are not isolated islands in this fight to save our freedoms. We are a large movement, locally and across this country, who believe we are Taxed Enough Already. We are American citizens petitioning our government for a redress of abuses on the system that has sustained us with liberty for more than two centuries.

Stand with us at the Tax Day Tea Party Rally, Thursday, April 15, from 4-7pm, at the corner of Pioneer, 5th and Wheeler in Moses Lake. Stand and be counted!
