I appreciate everybody’s opinion on the Miss Moses Lake pageant, which is a scholarship program for girls. As the current Miss Moses Lake Outstanding Teen, I’d like to share my views.

I appreciate everybody’s opinion on the Miss Moses Lake pageant, which is a scholarship program for girls. As the current Miss Moses Lake Outstanding Teen, I’d like to share my views. People have been saying that having Miss Moses Lake contestants from out of town isn’t fair to girls in our town and shouldn’t be allowed. Having a closed pageant to only girls from this area would be great, but what may not be understood is that not enough girls from Moses Lake participate. There’s a certain number of girls required to hold a Miss pageant. In order to have a Miss Moses Lake Outstanding Teen, a Miss Pageant needs to be held. Having girls coming in from out of town gives teens in our community the chance to run. Also, people have been saying that a majority of the money donated to this pageant is given to girls who aren’t from our community. The Teen Pageant gets a fair share of these funds for scholarships. Even though the girls who have been crowned are from out of our community this year, they are strong role models and I personally believe that they will all honor their commitments and represent our town well. Thanks to the community for supporting this pageant and scholarship program.
