Late School Start

Reader questions new start time

So now teachers have decided that they need more time to “collaborate?” This sounds like a fancy word for gossip about what they did over the weekend to me. Why change the students’ time at school? The students already have a long day, and for the elementary school children they often get home after dark during the winter. Now they will get home even later and be in more danger due to the change.

I feel that if the teachers need time to collaborate, they should either go to work early to accomplish this or stay late. Why should a small group of people be allowed to make a change that will effect a huge amount of children and parents?
