MOSES LAKE — “Cabaret” is coming to Moses Lake.

US Bank helps bring Windwood Productions, a national touring company, to perform the story of a singer working in a 1929 Berlin club, who meets a young American writer to the Wallenstien Theater at Big Bend Community College on Monday.

The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets cost $30 for reserved seats, $25 for general seats and $10 for students. They are available at Andrew’s Hallmark in Moses Lake, The Bookery in Ephrata and the Big Bend Bookstore.

Columbia Basin Allied Arts Executive Director Randy Johnstad is excited about bringing the Tony-winning play to Moses Lake, saying it’s always been cost prohibitive before.

“Normally this is a $20,000 to $25,000 a night show,” he said. “We’re having it on Monday night. We couldn’t have afforded it otherwise. It’s a huge big deal.”

He pointed out tickets for the same show can cost $10 to $20 more in other venues, saying the $30 reserved seats are a good deal.

“Locally, there’s been a huge turnout for anybody who did a musical. They did a spring musical here where they brought in a star. When that ended, that’s when the Quincy players started doing musicals and Masquers started doing musicals,” Johnstad said. “It’s just classic stuff. We’re just excited to have such a high quality show brought in.”

Moses Lake Mayor Jon Lane and his wife Carol Lane are also scheduled to make a cameo in the performance.

“The Mayor and his wife will be escorted and seated on-stage with other club patrons at the famous Kit Kat Klub set in pre-war Berlin. Who knows what mayhem may occur? The audience is encouraged to hoot and holler when they take the stage. Columbia Basin Allied Arts thanks Jon and Carol for their courage in acting at such short notice. We encourage everyone to come and see just how well they do,” according to a spokesperson.

Johnstad did caution there are some adult themes in the show, saying he gives it a PG rating.
