MISS MOSES LAKE

| April 8, 2010 9:00 PM

To call the pageant that occurred in Moses Lake March 20th “The Miss Moses Lake Pageant” is a mockery and an insult to the citizens of Moses Lake. They were talented, beautiful young ladies, but the winners were not from Moses Lake. How do Chewelah, Seattle, and Puyallup young women represent what is best about the City of Moses Lake?

The Miss Moses Lake Pageant has a great history. It has produced at least three Miss Washingtons and they all lived in Moses Lake. Young women from Moses Lake represented their city at parades, pageants, and other special appearances. Now a Chewelah resident represents us. I don’t understand how she is a “Miss Moses Lake.” Why not run a real Miss Moses Lake Pageant with only Moses Lake women. If there is not enough interest by Moses Lake women then don’t have a pageant at all.

The article in the newspaper stated that $3000 in scholarships will be awarded to the titleholders. Local sponsors need to realize that (most of) their money is being awarded to young women who do not live in Moses Lake.

This letter is my opinion and not necessarily the opinion of the City Council.
