QUINCY — A strong first-half was enough for the Quincy Jacks to maintain their unbeaten start to the season as they held on to defeat a game Ephrata squad, 3-2 on Tuesday night.

JC Romero scored two goals — in the 12th and 38th minute — both off of direct kicks, to give the Jacks a 3-1 lead at the intermission.

Ephrata’s Trevor Flint scored in the 16th minute while Quincy also got a score off of a Efrain Alvarado assist in the first half.

Flint scored again, three minutes after intermission but the Tigers couldn’t come up with a tying goal and a chance to win in overtime.

Quincy outshot Ephrata 16-3 according to Turner.

“The game was very competitive each team had their opportunities many good battles in the midfield,” Ephrata coach Keith Laughlin said. “Quincy had the better of possession but quality scoring opportunities were about equal.”

Davis 4, Moses Lake 0

YAKIMA — A strong performance of taking advantage of their opportunities, hosts A.C. Davis ran off to a 4-0 win over Moses Lake last night, ending the Chiefs’ three-game winning streak.

“They are very quick and don’t really have a weakness on that team,” Moses Lake coach Bill Bertram said. “They tackled hard and took advantage of their opportunities and we that’s what we needed to do and we didn’t.”

Davis led Moses Lake (4-4, 3-4) 3-0 at intermission.

According to Bertram was outshot 12-6 on goal.

Aaron Molina made three saves in goal for Moses Lake.

Warden 3, Kiona-Benton 0

WARDEN — It may have been windy but the only thing blowing away the Kiona-Benton soccer team Tuesday night was the Warden Cougars.

The Cougars broke open a scoreless tie at halftime with a three-goal barrage in the game’s final 40 minutes to record a 3-0 home win.

Warden’s first goal came from Antonio Figueroa off of a Carlos Figueroa assist and then Fernando Landeros followed that tally with one of his own soonafter off of a corner kick.

Antonio Figueroa scored his second goal and Warden’s final tally with a flick over the Ki-Be goalkeeper’s head.

“In the second half with the wind in front of us we were forced to play short fast passes and we had several opportunities to score,” Warden coach Ed Aguilar said. “My center defenders played a great game. Cesar Santana and Oliver Neilsen held their forwards away from our goalkeeper and kept them to only three shots on goal.”

Warden (4-2) recorded 16 shots of their own in a clean contest where only five fouls were called in the contest.

Royal 8, Granger 1

ROYAL — Four goals apiece by Adam Martinez and Shaq Ledesma were enough for the Knights to record an emphatic 8-1 non-league win over Granger last night.

“Granger had the wind in their favor during the first half, but we found ourselves up by two at the break due to some good wing play and also speed in front of goal,” Royal coach Jens Jensen said. “In the second half the boys were able to push forward and find the net.”

All told, Royal outshot Granger 20-11 with 14 of their attempts on goal.

Carlos Barajas was in goal for the Knights and made six saves.
