Unusual things to see and do in Chicago

| April 5, 2010 2:00 PM

(ARA) - There's so much to do in Chicago that you can never stop planning trips - even after you've exhausted Navy Pier, walked every inch of downtown and done all the typical sightseeing.

When you plan your next visit, make sure you search online for travel deals and rental cars so you are able to get to each and every one of these unusual activities that will keep you coming back to Chicago for another visit:

* Ghost hunting. The unknown is so appealing with hidden mysteries, chilling stories and speculation of what really might be true, and Chicago has many ghost tours available to cater to this attraction. John Dillinger, "Ghostbusters," Al Capone, the mysterious disappearance of a hitchhiker and even the reappearance of a goat around Wrigley Field are just a few of the hauntings that tours provide background stories on. Tours vary with length and time of day, so make sure you search for the one that best matches your schedule.

* Explore the unusual. The Weird Chicago Tour expands just a bit beyond hunting ghosts and explores Chicago's turbulent history, including the Great Chicago Fire and the Green Hornet Trolley Disaster. Just to add to the weird fun, the tours are held on the Weird Chicago Voodoo bus. Visit www.weirdchicago.com to learn more about this tour.

* Try on a bit of fun and charm. The Uncle Fun Toy Store on Belmont Avenue is sure to bring out the child in anyone. Toys, gags, goofy costumes - if it's odd and fun, it's probably in this store. And the merchandise changes quickly, so you could spend hours browsing this store and never run out of fun things to play with. This store is bricks-and-mortar only - they don't sell merchandise online, so make sure you put it down as one of your travel destinations while visiting Chicago.

You can find plenty of Chicago hotels online as well, located near the "L" or downtown for easy access to and from all the out-of-the-ordinary activities you want to see and do.
