Grant PUD closes Getty's Cove

EPHRATA — The Grant County PUD closed Getty’s Cove resort to the public for the 2010 season as staff determines future improvements.

The utility bought the 97 acres of land last year for $1.49 million in order to meet Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) ?requirements for the Priest Rapids Project.

There are currently no license requirements specific to Getty’s Cove and PUD commissioners can surplus the property if license requirement needs cannot be satisfactorily realized, according to Dorothy Harris, a PUD spokesperson.

The land is located near Wanapum State Park.

“I know they’re in the middle of determining a time line of what improvements need to be made,” said Harris.

Getty’s Cove was also closed during the previous two seasons.

Some sections of the land will be upgraded before the area is opened to the public.
