Quincy man dies in wreck

QUINCY — Jose A. Diaz, 45, Quincy, died in a two-vehicle collision on state Route 281, four miles south of Quincy, Friday night.

Diaz was traveling westbound on Road 6 Northwest in a 1987 Nissan truck toward the highway, the Washington State Patrol reported Monday. He allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a semitruck traveling on the highway. The vehicles came to a stop in the northbound lane of the highway.

Diaz died at the scene.

Stephen L. Margrave, 57, Sisters, Ore., was the driver of the 2007 Freightliner semitruck and trailer. He and passenger Carrie J. Margrave, 52, Sisters, Ore., were not injured, the state patrol reported.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, the state patrol advised. Citations were not issued.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
