Valentine Barris

| September 23, 2009 9:00 PM

Valentine Barris, 89, of Othello, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 at her home in her daughter’s arms.

Valentine was born in Primrose, ND on February 14, 1920, to Leo and Lila (Lawn) Oleson.

Valentine attended school in Fargo and after graduation moved to California looking for work. She found work helping build planes for the WWII effort. She later married Walter Williams and had three children. Walter died after twenty five years of marriage. She later married Henry Barris. They enjoyed twenty five years together moving from place to place following his jobs until Henry passed away. Valentine moved to Warden, WA to be closer to her family. Finally she moved to her daughter’s home in Othello.

Valentine had a very tough life, but she also had many things that brought her a lot of joy. She made many camping trips and was an avid fisher. She loved playing bridge with her special friends. People could understand, by the truck she drove, the great love she had for square dancing. She wasn’t able to buy her new dancing dresses, but that didn’t stop her. She just made her own.

Valentine was preceded in death by her parents, her first and second husbands, a son, Lee Williams, and one grandson Jeff. She is survived by daughters Mili (Bob) Carlson, Lila (Bob) Perkins, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 1:30 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden, WA. To sign the guest book and leave a note for the family please visit stevensfuneralchapel.com.
