Royal City man dies in wreck

MOSES LAKE — Santos R. Contreras, 40, Royal City, died after being ejected from his SUV during a wreck on Interstate 90 Sunday night.

He was believed to be impaired by alcohol and not wearing his seat belt, the Washington State Patrol reported Monday.

Contreras was driving a 1999 Mercury SUV eastbound on I-90 when his vehicle left the road about 7 miles west of Moses Lake. The vehicle entered the median, returned to the road, then rolled back to the median and into the cable barrier.

He was ejected during the wreck, according to the state patrol.

The state patrol listed the cause as driving under the influence of alcohol.
