Ronald Delano Iverson

Ronald Delano Iverson of Royal City passed away on Saturday September 19, 2009 in Wenatchee, Washington from complications after heart surgery.

Ronald was born on November 8, 1932 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Wilford Iverson and Gertrude Jensen Iverson. He was given the middle name Delano because he was born the day Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected President.

Ronald attended school in Tremonton, Utah, graduating from Bear River High School and later from Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

On September 17, 1952 Ronald and Jewell Jensen were married in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They moved to McMinnville, Oregon in June 1955 where Ron went to work for the Soil Conservation Service as a soil specialist.

Their young family moved to Quincy where Ronald worked with his brother, Lee, farming. They later moved to Moses Lake for a time, working at U & I sugar beet processing plant and then back to work for Soil Conservation Service in Othello.

In 1957, Ronald and Jewell bought a farm on Royal Slope while he was working mapping ground. He raised his family with Jewell and farmed there until the time of his death.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Dwayne and Verl, and his sister Ora Fay. His brother, Lee, is still living on the Royal Slope with his wife, Doreen. He is also survived by his wife Jewell, sons Val and Wendie of Royal City, Kevin and Debbie of Selah, Mark of Royal City, Carl and Karra of Oroville, and daughters Christine and Kelly Chisholm of Moses Lake, Marla and Russell Latimer of Royal City, Darla and Joe Plaisted of Richland. Also, 34 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Royal City with Bishop Derek Allred conducting. Interment will follow in Royal Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.
