Local club to host fly fishing clinic

| September 22, 2009 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — The Dry Side Fly Fishing Club will host a fly fishing clinic Saturday at Cascade Park in Moses Lake.

The clinic will focus primarily on instructing novice anglers how to cast a fly rod and discuss the differences between fly fishing and conventional spin fishing or baitcasting.

The clinic will be run by certified casting instructor Matt Paluch. The group lesson begins at 10 a.m. and Paluch, along with club members, will provide personal help to those in attendance during a hands-on practice session. Paluch is a nationally-ranked competitive fly caster and is the editor of “Fly Fishing Life Magazine.”

Clinic attendees do not need to bring their own equipment although the club encourages those who have equipment to bring it along.

Everyone in attendance will be entered into a raffle for numerous prizes. The raffle prizes will be drawn and awarded at the Dry Side Fly Fishing Club meeting Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Chico’s Pizza in Moses Lake. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The Dry Side Fly Fishing Club is a non-profit organization and has been active throughout the Columbia Basin for more than 20 years. The club meets bimonthly and meets during the first and third Tuesday of each month at Chico’s pizza.

Club members actively participate in conservation efforts throughout the region.
