WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Moyer Foundation is sponsoring a bereavement camp for kids in Central Washington this weekend at Camp Erin in Wenatchee, Wash.

The Moyer Foundation is a non-profit organization established by former Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen.

The bereavement camp will begin today and conclude Sunday and is intended for children and teenagers ages 6-17 who have experienced the loss of a relative or close friend.

The Moyer Foundation is joining up with Good Grief Center of NCW to help children who have lost someone special in their lives.

According to U.S. Census Reports, more than 60,000 children in Washington have suffered the loss of someone close to them. Bereavement experts and trained volunteers from the Good Grief Center will work with the children to provide healthy ways to cope with grief.

The Moyer Foundation is headquartered in Seattle and was founded by the Moyers in 2000. According to a press release, “the Foundation’s mission is to provide comfort and support to children enduring a time of profound physical, emotional or financial distress.”
