Hazel Reynolds Taylor Woolery took Jesus’ hand and went to her heavenly home Saturday, August 29.

Hazel was born April 17, 1923, in Hartman, Colorado, to C. Lloyd Reynolds and Clara Lillian Whitehead Reynolds. Hazel was the third of eleven children – 2 girls and 9 boys.

In August 1943, Hazel married Glen L. Taylor (deceased April 1976) in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Shortly after they married, the U.S. Army took Glen to the European Theatre in World War II. While he was gone, Hazel finished college and graduated from Northwestern College, Alva, Oklahoma. When Glen returned at the end of the war, they went into farming, first at Bristol, CO, then Coulder, CO, and just outside Denver, CO. In 1951, they moved to a farm near St. Ignatius, Montana, and in the fall of 1952 moved to a place in Grant Orachards, WA (near Soap Lake). They were there until 1957 when they moved to what many know as Midway Meadows –between Ephrata and Soap Lake.

The fall of 1956, Hazel started teaching at Wilson Creek High School and the following year began her career as the Business Ed teacher at Soap Lake High School. She retired in 1985.

Following Glen’s death in 1976, Hazel remained a widow until she married Clyde Woolery in September 1995. In April 2008, Clyde went home to be with Jesus, leaving Hazel a widow again.

Hazel is survived by her six children and their spouses: Glenda (Bob) Alley, Sheryl (Doug) Matthews, Gene (Patricia) Taylor, Kay Comstock, Ron (Dena) Taylor, and Nancy (Phil) Sanders; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Additionally, Hazel leaves seven brothers and one sister living, as well as two stepsons – Clifford and Lawrence Woolery and their families.
