Voters take part in poll

COLUMBIA BASIN — Readers of the Columbia Basin Herald are participating in an online poll of some of election races for Grant County.

Online readers can vote once each at www.columbiabasinherald.com/politics.

With little more than a week left, the polls are favoring Deputy Prosecutor Albert Lin and Moses Lake incumbents Ron Covey and Brent Reese.

As of Thursday night:

Grant County Prosecutor

Deputy Prosecutor Albert Lin has 50 percent of the poll with 286 votes. Incumbent prosecutor D. Angus Lee has 48 percent of the poll with 275 votes. Two percent of voters selected they will vote for a write-in candidate or nobody.

Moses Lake City Council position one

Incumbent Councilmember Bill Ecret has 65 percent of the poll with 122 votes. Candidate Jason McCreary has 29 percent of the poll with 55 votes. Six percent of votes indicated they will select a write-in candidate or nobody.

Moses Lake City Council position two

Incumbent Mayor Ron Covey has 57 percent of the poll with 126 votes. Candidate Karen Liebrecht has 40 percent of the poll with 89 votes. Three percent of voters indicated they will select at write-in candidate or nobody.

Moses Lake City Council position four

Incumbent Councilmember Brent Reese has 68 percent of the poll with 124 votes. Candidate Darrin Jackson has 26 percent of the poll with 47 votes. Seven percent of voters indicated they will select a write-in candidate or nobody.

Moses Lake City Council position five

Candidate David Curnel has 51 percent of the poll with 92 votes. Candidate Tom Hayes has 45 percent of the poll with 81 votes. Four percent of voters indicated they will select a write-in candidate or nobody.

Moses Lake School District position four

Candidate Pete Knittle has 70 percent of the poll with 169 votes. Candidate Kevin Donovan has 30 percent of the poll with 72 votes.

Soap Lake School District position five

Incumbent Curtis Dotson has 51 percent of the poll with 37 votes. Candidate Wayne Turner has 38 percent of the poll with 27 votes. Eleven percent of voters indicated they will select a write-in candidate or nobody.

Ephrata City Council position two

Candidate Clarke A. Morris has 49 percent of the poll with 38 votes. Incumbent Councilmember Mark S. Wanke has 41 percent of the poll with 32 votes. Ten percent of voters indicated they will select a write-in candidate or nobody.

The polls are not scientific nor do they indicate actual voting. The margin for error is unknown.
