Grant County Prosecutor

| October 29, 2009 9:00 PM

I have always wanted to witness a political debate. Hearing the views of candidates is important, yes. My desire was to observe the audience as well as the candidates. Recently I was able to do just that when I attended a debate between the candidates for Grant County prosecutor.

Body language often speaks louder than words; even to the point of contradicting the spoken word. On this occasion, I observed several variations. From the audience came questioning glances, postures of frustration, and in some, anger. But it was the demeanor of the candidates that captivated my attention.

Albert Lin’s gestures spoke to me of someone pleading his client’s case. His words and physical actions loudly spoke of experience in the court room, of mentorship received throughout his tenure, but nothing of the heart and desire to serve his constituents. He spoke of garnering support of former political officials, but physically denounced the need to garner support of the voters. Instead, we were both defendant and jury.

Angus Lee spoke to me of a patient man; wanting to hear the needs of the community, and his opponent. Listening intently he gave well thought out, direct responses to our questions. He showed respect, deference, patience and maturity. His body language created confidence in his integrity, job performance and ability to make sound decisions. I became a member of a cause, not a defendant or juror.

Mr. Lin spoke in defense of his experience; Mr. Lee spoke of action and the confidence to serve. While some say he lacks court room experience, his over-all experience, legal knowledge, youth and desire to make our community the best in the state have garnered this constituent’s support. Mr. Lee, you have my vote for the position of Grant County Prosecutor!
