Grant County Prosecutor
I have practiced as a defense attorney in Grant County since 1980. I was a public defender from 2006 to 2008. I represented people for 38 years. I have defended several murder charges, manslaughter, arson and DWI cases.
Defense attorneys represent their clients. The prosecutor has a duty to represent police, victim and defendant. The truth is the prosecutor has to make difficult decisions, including being ethical as an attorney to the defendant and the defense attorney. From many of my contacts, Angus Lee is not being ethical.
I was representing defendants when Albert Lin came to Grant County at the start of his career. At times I had to work with him to get the charges dropped to the right charge and to settle cases properly.
Virtually all prosecutors over charge at the start of their careers. Albert Lin is involved in making charging decisions. He won a homicide by controlled substances and the jury convicted the defendant in 45 minutes. It’s obvious Albert Lin learned the capacity to charge the proper crime.
I am frustrated Angus Lee wants to be nothing but an administrator for a job paying $135,000 annually.
I have had prosecutors make bad decisions. Instead of being a simple administrator, Albert Lin has the experience to make those hard decisions.
Angus Lee has not tried any felonies in Grant County. He hasn’t learned to make any of the hard decisions as a prosecutor.
I guarantee the court clerks, both superior and district treasurers, auditor and the sheriff and county commissioner, do more than simply administrate to earn their salary.
I find it unethical to tell Albert Lin he cannot talk about his cases to the public or the press.
I strongly recommend Albert Lin as our next prosecutor. I want our prosecutor to be ethical.
