Grant County Prosecutor

| October 22, 2009 9:00 PM

Angus Lee has earned my vote.

When we watch the prosecutors race and see good people like Angus Lee and his family being raked through the proverbial mud, I wonder how I stood it for so long. I wonder what kind of person it takes to survive all of the personal attacks and still maintain a positive force changing a good old boy network into a 21st century law firm.

Voters, please remember the old political adage — When they can’t win on the issues, they attach the individual. The Grant County prosecuting attorney race this year has set new lows for attorneys and their friends attacking the incumbent who won the primary election in August.

Could it be that Angus Lee has made dramatic changes in the prosecutors office by increasing attorney staff numbers while living within a reduced budget? Could it be because he is the only candidate with leadership experience making tough decisions on the battlefield and in the largest law firm in the county – the prosecutors office? Is Angus Lee being personally attacked because of his conservative Republican beliefs? His opponent has Democratic support and a number of his contributors are from outside the county.

Angus has made long overdue changes in the prosecutors office. He has instituted changes, keeping staff accountable to serving the public as well as providing legal advice to other elected officials. He has not wavered when tough choices have to be made. He weighs the evidence and moves forward.

From some of the recent newspaper articles it appears Angus has matured more in the last ten years than many of his accusers have in a lifetime. He takes responsibility for his actions. Thank you Angus Lee for the honesty and integrity you bring to the office.
