Lilyan Viola Jones
Lilyan Viola Jones, mother of Betty (Irvin) Morehouse of Toppenish, WA and Lois (Ralph) Kincaid of Moses Lake, WA died peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Summerwood. Born August 16, 1917, in Coleman, Alberta, Canada, Lilyan grew up and went to school in Spokane, Washington where she graduated from North Central High School.
Grandchildren include Jay Kincaid, Moses Lake; Dawn (Lou) Grespan, Tokyo, Japan and their three children, Gwen, Thomas and Valerie; Bobbi (Mike) Fuerst, Yakima, and their two children, Joe and Michele; Brent Morehouse and Andrea Lowell, Yakima, and their son, Hayden; and Bruce Morehouse, Kennewick. Lilyan was diagnosed with MS when her two daughters were young and it was her dream to see them graduate from high school. She not only saw them graduate, but all of her grandchildren as well. Much to her delight many of her children and grandchildren went on to receive college degrees.
Lilyan graduated from beauty school and worked as a beautician for several years before she moved to Pasco, Washington in 1946. She had her own fur coat repair business. She worked and then retired from the Franklin County PUD. She made her home in Moses Lake in 1993. She lived at Hearthstone Retirement Home until 2006 when she moved to Summerwood. Lilyan loved the people at both Hearthstone and Summerwood who made her feel welcome and loved her like family. When the great grandchildren came along, they could be seen riding in her wheelchair with her.
Lilyan became a Christian later on in life. She attended Grace Harvest Church and the Moses Lake Alliance Church, both in Moses Lake.
Lilyan loved to garden, sew, play piano and violin. She loved to watch baseball, play bingo, going to parties and family gatherings at the holidays. She played dominoes all of her life and loved beating anyone who would sit down and take her on.
She requested that her ashes be put in a garden so that the flowers will continue to grow and be a constant reminder of her love and affection. There will be a celebration of her life together with family and friends at a later date.
