Crossroads hosts fund-raising banquet
MOSES LAKE — Crossroads Resource Center is celebrating the addition of an ultrasound machine to the facility at their main fund-raising event tonight.
“This is really an exciting time for us,” said executive director Wendi Schield. “This was a big process, a four-year effort and the community was key at making this happen.”
The fund-raising banquet is the main fund-raiser for the center. This year it is located at Big Bend Community College’s ATEC Conference Center. Fellowship and seating starts the event off at 6 p.m. and dinner begins at 6:30.
“People should call and make reservations as soon as they can because we expect it to fill up fast,” Schield said. “One great thing we are doing is having our table hosts invite people, so the word is spreading fast.”
Reverend Bob Foust is coming from Alabama to speak about the history of pregnancy centers. Foust assisted in opening about 80 pregnancy care centers throughout the United States, according to Schield.
There is also music, prayer and booths informing the public about the center.
“This is geared for adults,” Schield said. “We want to get more information out on the ministry we do and the progress we have made.”
Schield wanted to turn the center into a Pregnancy Resource Medical Center for a long time. The hiring of a clinic director and a medical director, along with finding two volunteer radiologists and the ultrasound machine, bring Schield closer to her goal.
“Efforts of individuals and churches around our area have really helped us,” Schield said.
Big Bend Community College is located at 7662 Chanute St. N.E.
