Bessie May Gawenit

Bessie May Gawenit, 95, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at LakeRidge Special Care Center in Moses Lake.

Inurnment will be at Guarding Angels Cemetery, Moses Lake. At the family request there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or a charity of choice. Please sign the book or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com.

Bessie was born in Cashmere, WA, on August 15, 1914, to the late William and Emily Searles.

She lived some of her adult live in Western WA, in the Port Angeles area, before moving to Moses Lake.

She met and married her third husband Andrew (Andy) Gawenit, on May 9, 1956. They continued to make their home in Moses Lake.

Bessie loved to work in her flower beds and garden.

She was a member and past president of the Moses Lake Eagles Lodge. She was also a member of the local VFW and American Legion.

Besides her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband, a daughter Darline McDonald, a brother and sister.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Shirley of Northport, WA, Dorothy of Soap Lake, WA, Pam and Sharon of Moses Lake and her son Owen of Mesa, AZ, and large loving family.
