Elizabeth was born in Stockton, California and resided in her beloved home state for more than 80 years. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1936, and attended College of the Pacific and then transferred to business school to become a bookkeeper. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Myron, with whom she spent the next 68 years. He preceded her in death in 2008. They had two daughters, Sandra McGowan of Moses Lake, and Marsha Spencer, deceased.

She worked for 25 years at Stockton Elevators, a grain distribution center. During her retirement she volunteered as a “Pink Lady” at Memorial Hospital in Modesto and the Salvation Army, also in Modesto.

During their working years the resided in Manteca and Farmington  and moved to Modesto in their retirement. There, they belonged to the Del Rio Country Club, and Centenary Methodist Church. One of her greatest joys was regaling her friends with elaborate dinner parties, featuring fine foods and beautiful table settings.

She and Myron moved to The Monroe House Assisted Living in Moses Lake in 2001 in order to be closer to their family.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Sandra, grandsons J.D. McGowan of Tacoma, Jason McGowan of Moses Lake, Jeff McGowan of Lake Tapps, Jock McGowan of Buckley and John McGowan of Olympia, all  in Washington State. She had seven great-grand-children.
