Tonight's tailgate raises funds for Kennewick AD

| October 9, 2009 9:00 PM

WENATCHEE — The booster clubs from Moses Lake and Wenatchee are co-sponsoring a tailgate fund-raiser before tonight’s Columbia Basin Big Nine Conference between the two schools to raise money for Kennewick Athletic Director Ronny Coleman.

The tailgate fund-raiser will help offset medical costs accrued following Coleman’s sudden paralysis on Aug. 20.

On Aug. 20, Coleman woke up from a nap with back pain and within hours, the 7-foot 2-inch tall Coleman was paralyzed from the waist down.

Coleman’s insurance will not cover the extensive needs he must address in order to adjust to life in a wheel chair.

Coleman will need a specialized wheelchair, a specialized vehicle and modifications to his home. Approximately $35,000 will be needed to help offset the costs.

Moses Lake fans and Wenatchee fans are encouraged to gather beneath the scoreboard at the Apple Bowl in Wenatchee, Wash., prior to tonight’s contest. Cost for the tailgate is $10 per person and it will take place between 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
