Dale W. Nelson

Dale W. Nelson, 83, longtime Moses Lake resident and business owner, passed away at Samaritan Hospital on October 5, 2009.

A visitation will be held at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. All those who wish to celebrate his life are invited to a luncheon reception at noon on Saturday October 10, 2009, at Pillar Rock Grill, Moses Lake Golf and Country Club. A private service will be held prior to the reception.

Dale was born in 1926, went to school and lived in Moscow, Idaho until he entered the Air Force in 1945, during World War II. He returned to Moscow, graduated from the University of Idaho in 1950 and married Mary Driscoll. They moved to Moses Lake in 1951 and he worked for Western Cold Storage until he started Columbia Bean & Produce Company in 1952. At the time of his death, he still owned and was involved in his business. He enjoyed being a member of Rotary and was a longtime member of the Moses Lake Golf and Country Club.

In 1984, he married Barbara Calloway, who survives him at the family home. His children residing in Moses Lake are, Judy and Al Sackmann and Tim and Kathy Nelson and in Auburn, Nancy and Dan Schmitt. He has 2 stepsons in Quincy: Rex and Melva Calloway and Ross and Cassi Calloway.

Other members of his family include a brother-in-law Lewis Bresssler and the mother of his children, Mary Driscoll Nelson. He has 19 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and was very proud of his 8 great grandchildren.

The Family requests that memorial contributions in his name be sent to: the Samaritan Hospital Foundation at 801 E. Wheeler Road in Moses Lake.
