Kimi Matsushita Fukukai
Kimi died in Spokane, WA. She resided at Sulllivan Park Assisted Living and Care Center since August 2002 and lived in Othello, WA from 1956-2002.
Born in Ucon, ID to Oya and Kumaichi Matsushita. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George; brothers, Kolie and Kats. Graduated from Marsing High School in 1939. Lived in Boise and Nampa, ID. Survived by brother Tom and Michi Matsushita, UT; sister in law Haruko and Ted Naritoku, CA; daughter Eileen and Russ Ewan, Spokane and MT; son Randy Fukukai, Seattle; grandchildren Scott Garcia, AZ, Kim Garcia; great grandson Ayden Williams, NV; nieces Georgia Matsushita, Karen Roberts and Emi Furuta, and nephews, Allen, Mike, and John Matsushita, Roy Teramoto and Wes Naritoku.
Kimi farmed with her husband and started working at Nestle’s / Carnation Corp. in Othello at age 55, retiring at age 76. She was a grateful that her grandchildren were healthy and became a member of Children’s Hospital Guild. Kimi was a member of the Japanese American Citizens League, a friend of Highland Park Methodist Church in Spokane, First Presbyterian Church in Othello, a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, and a 38 year breast cancer survivor. Although relatively healthy through her final years, dementia robbed her of many precious memories.
A special thank you goes out to the staff of Sullivan Park Care Center. Memorial services were held at Highland Park Methodist Church, 611 S. Garfield, Spokane, on October 3, 2009 at 5 p.m. Burial is to be held at a later date in Othello, WA at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Highland Park UMC.
