Ellensburg 48, Quincy 8; Othello 55, Grandview 6
ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Quincy quarterback Jackson Hodges scored the final touchdown of Friday night’s Central Washington Athletic Conference contest with top-ranked Ellensburg, but the Bulldogs scored the first 48 points to roll to the decisive 48-8 victory.
Hodges ran 13 times for 30 yards and senior running back Breck Webley ran 18 times for 82 yards to help power the Jacks, but the undefeated Bulldogs proved to be too much for 1-4 Quincy. Quincy is 0-4 in conference play, their only win coming in their first game against Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls, Wash.
Ellensburg senior quarterback Ethan Sterkel was 17-for-20 passing for 214 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lift the Bulldogs at home.
Despite playing on the road against the state’s top 2A football team, Quincy battled Ellensburg throughout the first quarter, holding the Bulldogs to a 7-0 lead.
Although Quincy remained close throughout the first quarter, Ellensburg broke the game open with a 28-point second quarter and the Bulldogs scratched their way to a 35-0 halftime lead.
Hodges scored Quincy’s lone touchdown on the ground and was just 3-for-7 passing for 14 yards with two interceptions. Wide receiver Trevor Hyer pulled in all three passes for the Jackrabbits.
Othello 55, Grandview 6
GRANDVIEW, Wash. — While Grandview kept Friday night’s Central Washington Athletic Conference contest with Othello close throughout the first half, the fourth-ranked Huskies scored five times in the third quarter en route to a 55-6 victory.
Othello running back Parker Davis ran for a pair of touchdowns, including the game’s first score, and senior quarterback Jeremy Cerrillo threw a pair of touchdown passes to fuel the Huskies.
